Analytical study of dynamic bearing capacity of foundations
Study was conducted to develop general approach for bearing capacity of foundations subjected to time dependent transient loads, with investigation restricted to cohesive soils; approach is based on simplifying assumptions which provide expedient way of calculating resulting angular rotations as functions of time; solutions were developed to permit designer to readily calculate maximum angular rotations provided relation between time and intensity of dynamic pulse can be expressed by means of simple mathematical relation; resulting differential equation of motion was evaluated for initially peaked triangular pulse and rectangular pulse.
