Description of operation used in casting 5000-ton reinforced-concrete sections on shore, floating precast sections 10 mi. across San Francisco Bay and sinking and connecting them together in trench 80 ft. below surface of water; tunnel will connect Oakland and Alameda and is 4436 ft. long with roadway 22 ft. 10 in. wide and height from road to ceiling is 14 ft. 10 in.; elevated sidewalks, 3 ft. 6 in. wide, are provided on each side of roadway.
