Moisture conditions influencing tensile splitting strength of lightweight concrete
Series of tests to study difference in behavior of structural light weight and natural stone concretes, and to confirm hypothesis to explain different failure patterns; tests established pattern of strength change with air drying after moist curing for concretes with natural stone aggregates or coated expanded shale aggregates; hypothesis presented to explain difference in behavior between two types of concrete emphasizes influence which microcracking in paste phase of concrete may have on internal stress distribution in materials, and consequently its strength.
