Sand replacement in structural lightweight concrete -- Splitting tensile strength
Splitting tensile strengths of seven structural light weight concretes containing natural sand fines are reported; work relates to possibility of partial or complete replacement of light weight fines with sand; test results show equal splitting strengths for all continuously moist cured light weight and normal weight concretes when compressive strengths were equal; splitting strengths of light weight concretes were generally reduced when cylinders were allowed to dry before testing; use of sand fines minimized this strength reduction.
