Single table of basic volume parameters can be prepared with aid of computer for rapid calculation of earthwork quantities in dam design, saving time and permitting more thorough investigation of alternative designs and locations; generalized embankment table is applicable whenever embankment cross-section can be assumed to have horizontal base at all points along centerline of dam and from it yardages, volumes of riprap and gravel for slope protection can be determined.
