Sensitivity of time-base shadow method of flaw detection
Inspection of products made from coarse-aggregate materials, refractory materials, concrete, brick masonry, etc, that must be carried out at relatively low frequencies (50 to 100 kc) in order to obtain acceptable attenuation of ultrasonic vibrations; factors limiting sensitivity of method are discussed, and equations are given for calculating sensitivities actually attainable.
