Behavior of single-story reinforced concrete frames with filler walls
Construction and results of tests to failure of 10 one-story, single-bay reinforced concrete frames are described; three of 18 in. high by 36 in. span frames were tested as unfilled frames; seven of frames were infilled with solid panels of brick masonry, using quarter-scale clay bricks; all were subjected to horizontal loads acting in plane of frame and applied at level of roof beam; results of tests were studied to define possible failure mechanisms and to develop methods to calculate safe lower bounds to energy absorbing capacity of frames with filler walls.
