Sand replacement in structural lightweight concrete -- Creep and shrinkage studies
Creep and shrinkage volume changes of 47 structural light weight concretes containing seven light weight aggregates and varying amounts of natural sand are reported; creep and shrinkage were generally reduced when increasing amounts of sand fines were used; data are presented which correlate reduced volume changes to increasing volume of coarse aggregate in concrete; investigation is based on evaluation of concretes at two levels of compressive strength and containing 0, 33 1/3, 66 2/3, and 100% natural Elgin, Ill sand in replacement of lightweight fines.
