Nature of prestressed steel structures
Principles governing design, application, construction and behavior of prestressed steel beams; prestressing that uses cables, strands or rods is considered; beam structures described include prestressed I-shaped, composite, and continuous beams; in each case behavior of structure is presented along with data on possible economy to be achieved; comparison is made between conventional and prestressed composite beams and results show promise for prestressing; effects of prestressing in significantly reducing bending moments in continuous beam construction and examples of prestressed structures are presented.
