Behaviour of composite steel and lightweight concrete beams
Results are given for tests on five small-scale composite beams with light weight concrete slabs and one beam with normal weight concrete slab; all beams were provided with adequate shear connections proportioned according to principles used for development of current specifications for composite construction; losses in composite action appeared to be less for beams with light weight slabs than for similar beams with normal weight slabs; measured ultimate loads were, however, all in excess of theoretical ultimate loads determined according to simple plastic theory.
