Studies made in Maryland to develop satisfactory low cost bridge for many water crossings in state, show that structures made of treated timber or composite structures of treated timber and concrete have possibilities in low cost, long and satisfactory service and pleasing appearance not generally realized; tests on composite decks indicate that they may be found useful for major bridges.
