Method is given for dimensioning relief and discharge towers on basis of model tests; in many cases, crest of circular spill-weir was designed in accordance with overflow sections for linear axis so that crest shape corresponded to bottom surface of free aerated nappe flowing over sharp-edged weir; also, sections featuring low pressures under nappe have been investigated to increase efficiencies where possible.
