Spillway for West Point dam, Chattahoochee river, Alabama and Georgia -- Hydraulic model investigation
Although design of West Point spillway was based on good hydraulic design practice, 1/60 scale model analysis of its performance was desired because of less than ideal approach channel conditions and relatively high unit discharge (1205 cfs/ft); model investigation was concerned particularly with flow conditions in approach and near abutments, spillway capacity, hydraulic performance of bucket-type energy dissipator, heights of training walls, and embankment protective tone rip-rap requirements.
