Measurement of pore water pressures adjacent to driven pile
Two experiences with use of new piezometer are reported; principle of operation is similar to Geonor piezometer in that water permeates through porous membrane; main difference lies in method of construction and installation; this instrument was designed for measuring water pressures adjacent to driven steel pile; to achieve this, piezometer is welded to outside face of pile and driven with pile; installation technique was satisfactory and instrument is considered successful; number of different applications and modifications are proposed.
