Technique of removal of old bridge, which carried single track on Salem branch over Meramec River by using new type of high explosive; three through-truss spans of wrought-iron construction were dropped to ground where they could be quickly and safely cut up for scrap; cutting of end posts caused spans to be dropped straight down; method made falsework unnecessary; six explosive charges were placed, three on each truss.
