Shear strength properties of sodium illite
Investigation of sodium illite with pore water electrolyte concentration of 0.1 N in which illite particles were allowed to flocculate from dilute suspension to form "sedimented" normally consolidated samples; samples were subjected to consolidated undrained triaxial compression tests, with pore water pressures measured, at confining pressures between 5 psi and 120 psi; data were obtained on consolidation characteristics and effective stress shearing properties of clay.
