Force-deflection relations from dynamic tests
Method for determining dynamic force-deflection relation of simple yielding structure from response curves for sinusoidal excitation is presented and developed for G. Masing type of oscillator and assumes that energy dissipation observed at vanishingly small amplitudes is attributable to viscous damping; masing oscillator represents broad class of structures, including linear, elasto-plastic, bilinear hysteretic, and others; from application of results to Nielsen tests it is concluded that this method can be applied to many dynamic test results where steady-state response to sinusoidal excitation is measured.
