Force-deflection relations from dynamic tests
Method is developed for determining dynamic force-deflection relation of one-degree of freedom hysteretic structure from steady-state response to sinusoidal excitation; data needed are resonant frequency and equivalent viscous damping factor, defined as functions of amplitude of steady-state response; method is applicable to oscillators of G.Masing type, classification of which includes more common models of yielding behavior (e.g. elasto-plastic, bilinear hysteretic); examples of application of method to mathematical models of hysteretic structures and to dynamic test data are given.
