Mechanism of liquid-phase oxidation of 2-methylpent-2-ene
Abstract 1. The main products of oxidation of 2-methylpent-2-ene oxide, polymeric peroxide and equimolecular quantities of acetic and formic acids and acetone. 2. The rate of oxide formation is much higher than the rate of accumulation of products from the conversion of acyl and alkyl peroxide radicals. A hypothesis is put forward concerning a new process and mechanism of epoxidation of olefins.
