A sliding window assembly 10 including a window frame 14 and at least three panes 11-13 disposed within the window frame 14 in offset vertical planes. The panes 11-13 are arranged for sliding movement together upwardly within the window frame 14 or together downwardly within the window frame 14. One or more of the panes 11-13 can be fixed. The panes 11-13 have a fully open position and a fully closed position. In the closed position, respective edges of the panes 11-13 overlap while in the open position, the entire panes 11-13 overlap.
