During operation, the main part (110) is bent up and out from the longitudinal axis (101) and the arms (120, 130) are bent out of the plane. The apparatus has a foot (140) which is inserted into the soil by a plant and may have a tongue (150) that leads water to the soil near the root of the plant. The apparatus is preferably made of a recyclable plastic 10 that limits the heat transport from the main part (110) to the soil around the plant, for example polypropylene and/or polyethylene.
