Abstract A stairway assembly providing a temporary access-way between two levels of a building under construction. The stairway assembly extends from a lower floor to an 5 upper floor, and comprises: - a first stair frame, - a second stair frame, and - a horizontal intermediate landing located between said first and second stair frames, and supported from the lower floor by a stand located beneath the 10 landing. The stand comprises: - an upper frame portion fastened to the intermediate landing and including a pair of upright members; - a pair of leg extensions each of which is engaged with the bottom of a respective 15 said upright member; and - a pair of legs each of which is engaged with the bottom of a respective leg extension. 2-43S
