WATERTIGHT, RECESSED TIE-BACK ANCHOR DETAIL
An anchor head trumpet unit for shoring tie-back anchors, to be welded to a steel member. The purpose of these units is to facilitate the installation of tie-back anchors, which are required for the support of deep excavation or retaining walls. This design allows the tieback supports to be left in place and intact through completion of the excavation and construction project. This eliminates the need of de-tensioning, removal and cutting of anchor tension members once construction renders the tiebacks redundant. This design also offers the ability to have permanent anchors while maintaining a sealed and flat wall face, facilitating an easy installation of a permanent wall fascia. The anchor is tensioned and excess anchor bar or strand is cut off leaving nothing protruding beyond the inner edge of the anchor trumpet. The anchor head trumpet is watertight and the plate is installed and the anchor tensioned, so the secant wall maintains integrity as a water barrier, even where it is penetrated by the tiebacks. Additionally, during installation, the trumpet design allows for the ability to mount a back-flow preventer during anchor installation to resist water pressure forcing water into the excavation. The ability to leave the anchor head tensioned and intact maintains a resistance to water infiltration in cases where the shoring wall is being relied on for long-term water reduction.
