The invention discloses colored volcanic ash ceramsite and a manufacturing method thereof. The technical scheme is as follows: colored ceramsite serves as a main raw material of volcanic ash, small amounts of high alumina slag, pulverized coal, titanium oxide and copper oxide are mixed, dosing, mixing, granulating, drying, sintering and cooling and control of the concentration of a reducing atmosphere of a sintering furnace are carried out in sequence so as to obtain the colored sintered ceramsite. The colored ceramsite is uniform in color inside and outside, the surface is in a spherical or irregular geometrical shape, and the ceramsite is bright in color and good in visual effect. The ceramsite is good in water absorption and gas permeability since the surface is porous, and is applicable to landscaping and decoration, scenic spot beautifying and decoration as well as flowerpot topsoil and potted flower soil-less cultivation and decoration. The volcanic ash ceramsite disclosed by the invention achieves resource recycling and is conducive to environmental protection.
