The invention provides a fireproof door core plate and a preparation method thereof. The fireproof door core plate comprises, by mass, 20-30% of magnesium oxide, 20-30% of magnesium chloride, 4-6% of a modifier, 0.8-1.5% of engineering short fibers, 0.1-1.0% of a fibrous gridding cloth and 35-50% of water. The preparation method comprises the following steps of weighing raw materials according to a ratio, mixing magnesium oxide, magnesium chloride, the modifier, the engineering short fibers and water to obtain a uniform mixture, pouring the mixture into a mold, carrying out standing for curing molding, adding the fibrous gridding cloth in the mixture in a way of spreading before mixture standing curing molding, carrying out demolding after the mixture is cured and molded so that the fireproof door core plate is molded, and pressing the molded fireproof door core plate by a flatting machine so that the fireproof door core plate finished product is obtained.
