The invention discloses a shell plate and a manufacturing method of the shell plate. The shell plate comprises a base plate layer, a white coating layer, a first unsaturated polyester resin layer, a shell paper layer and a second unsaturated polyester resin layer. The manufacturing method comprises the following steps that: a base plate is selected, and white primer is sprayed on the surface of the base plate; the surface of the treated base plate is ground; first unsaturated polyester resins coat the surface of the ground base plate; shell paper is bonded on the base plate coated with the first unsaturated polyester resins; and second unsaturated polyester resins coat the surface of the shell paper of the treated base plate, grinding is carried out after the drying at the room temperature, and the shell plate is obtained. Compared with the traditional embedding method, the manufacturing method has the advantages that more dermatoglyphic patterns can be obtained; the limitation by the size of the base plate can be avoided, the manufacturing size can be regulated according to requirements, and the manufacturing method can also adapt to various curved surfaces. The manufacturing method of the shell plate also has the advantage that the mass production at low cost can be realized.
