The invention relates to a reservoir desilting system which comprises a dam, a sediment retaining dam, a sediment discharge pipeline and a sediment pumping ship. The sediment retaining dam is arranged in a reservoir, a flood discharge tunnel and a gate which is used for closing the flood discharge tunnel are arranged on the dam, and a sediment discharge channel is arranged below the flood discharge tunnel; a sediment discharge tunnel and a gate which is used for closing the sediment discharge tunnel are arranged on the sediment retaining dam; one end of the sediment discharge pipeline is connected with the flood discharge tunnel, the other end of the sediment discharge pipeline is arranged at the bottom of the sediment retaining dam, and the sediment discharge pipeline is connected with the sediment pumping ship; an ultrasonic distance measuring instrument which is used for measuring the depth of the reservoir is arranged on the sediment retaining dam.
