The invention discloses a stay rope type air damper, comprising a cylindrical body, a cylinder cover, a stay rope, a return spring, a piston, an O-shaped ring, and an H-shaped valve. The cylindrical body is provided with an inner cavity. The inner cavity is provided with the piston. The piston is provided with the return spring. The cylinder cover is connected with the upper end of the cylindrical body. The stay rope passes through the return spring and the cylinder cover and is connected with the piston. At least an end of the stay rope is out of the cylindrical body. The O-shaped ring is arranged on the circular groove on the periphery of the piston, so that the piston and the inner wall surface of the cylindrical body form seal. The H-shaped valve is respectively provided with umbrella-shape end faces on two sides of the inner side and outer side of the piston. The H-shaped valve passes through a venthole and is clamped with the venthole of the piston in an up-down moving manner through the inner umbrella-shape end face and the outer umbrella-shape end face. On the basis of reducing components, simplifying structure, and reducing cost, the stay rope type air damper reduces exhaust noise and improves damping capacity.
