The invention discloses barium lanthanum titanate ceramic and a preparation method thereof, which is used for solving the technical problem that the prepared barium lanthanum titanate ceramics are low in tuning rate. According to the technical scheme, the barium lanthanum titanate ceramic is prepared according to the formula Ba<1-x>LaxTi<1-x/4>O3. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adjusting ratio of lanthanum for substituting the barium titanate according to the formula Ba<1-x>LaxTi<1-x/4>O3, taking a solid-phase sintering technology, taking barium carbonate, lanthanum oxide and titanium oxide as raw materials, and preparing the barium lanthanum titanate ceramics with dielectric adjustability in steps of mixing, ball milling, low-temperature pre-burning and high-temperature sintering. The tuning rate of the barium lanthanum titanate ceramic prepared by adopting the method is increased from 20 percent of the background art to 74.1 percent under the electric field of 20kV/cm.
