The invention discloses tin barium titanate ceramic and a preparation method thereof, which is used for solving the technical problems that the tuning rate of the barium titanate ceramic prepared in the traditional method is low. According to the technical scheme, the tin barium titanate ceramic is prepared according to the formula BaTi<1-x>SnxO3. The preparation method comprises the steps of adjusting the ratio of tin for substituting the barium titanate ceramic according to the formula BaTi<1-x>SnxO3, taking a solid sintering technology, taking barium carbonate, tin oxide and titanium oxide as raw materials, and preparing the tin barium titanate ceramic with dielectric adjustability in steps of mixing, ball milling, low-temperature pre-burning and high-temperature sintering. The tuning rate of the tin barium titanate prepared by adopting the method can reach 69.1 percent under the electric field of 15kV/cm and is apparently higher than 20 percent in the background art.
