The invention discloses a vertical support system constructed through a reverse construction method and a method for the vertical support system. The vertical support system comprises core barrel underground continuous walls adopting reinforced concrete structures and pile foundations positioned on the peripheries of the core barrel underground continuous walls, wherein each core barrel underground continuous wall adopts a segmented structure and comprises segmented main bearing wall bodies; and a gap is reserved between each two adjacent segmented main bearing wall bodies. The method comprises the following steps: S1, building a vertical support system; S2, building a datum; and S3, constructing an overground structure and an underground structure synchronously. According to the invention, synchronous construction the overground structure and the underground structure can be realized and the construction period is shortened.
