A 220kV single-circuit horizontally-arranged strain tower shaped like a Chinese character 'gan' and used for a heavy icing area comprises a tower body, wherein the tower body comprises a tower head and a main tower body, and a first ground wire hanging point and a second ground wire hanging point used for hanging of ground wires are arranged at the upper part of the tower head and are symmetrically arranged on the left side and the right side of the tower head respectively; a first jumper wire hanging point and a second jumper wire hanging point are further arranged at the upper part of the tower head, the first jumper wire hanging point is located below the first ground wire hanging point, and the second jumper wire hanging point is located below the second ground wire hanging point; a wire cross arm is arranged at the lower part of the tower head, a third jumper wire hanging point, a left-phase wire hanging point, a middle-phase wire hanging point and a right-phase wire hanging point are arranged on the wire cross arm, and the third jumper wire hanging point is located on the left side of the left-phase wire hanging point. The strain tower is simple in structure, has a very clear force transferring path and has remarkable advantages in structural force transfer, a middle-phase jumper wire and an uphill side jumper wire are wound upwards, and the nominal height and the weight of the strain tower are reduced by comparison with existing strain towers.
