The present invention relates to an asphalt mixture and a preparation method thereof, particularly relates to a high RA mixing amount asphalt mixture and a preparation method thereof, and solves the problems of low RA mixing amount, high modifier price and high cost of asphalt mixtures in the prior art. The high RA mixing amount asphalt mixture comprises 30-60% of a recycled asphalt material, 7-10% of waste engine oil, 3.5 to 5.5% of high-density polyethylene plastic, 1.6 to 5% of new asphalt and 20 to 55% of new aggregate. The method is as follows: according to ''rules'', milling and grinding old pavement; using Abson method to get the aged asphalt content Aold; using Marshall test to determine the optimum asphalt content A; mixing the waste engine oil into the recycled asphalt material, heating and stirring for fusion; crushing the high-density polyethylene plastic, adding into the mixture, heating and stirring; adding the new asphalt and the new aggregate into the recycled asphalt material, heating and stirring evenly. Advantages are that: 1, the recycled asphalt material utilization rate is high, and the cost is reduced; 2, the waste engine oil and waste high density polyethylene plastic are recycled, the cost is reduced, and the environmental pollution is reduced; and 3, performance indicators can achieve requirements of the ''rules''.
