The invention belongs to the city track traffic technology field and provides a method for eliminating track system stray current. According to the method, a surface of a steel rail of a track is coated with an insulation coating layer (5), the steel rail comprises a rail top (4), a rail head (3), a rail waist (2) and a rail bottom (1) from up to down, wherein the insulation coating layer (5) is continuously coated along the laying direction of the steel rail, a compact and continuous insulation protection layer is formed on the surface of the steel rail, the insulation coating layer (5) is coated at two sides of the rail head, the rail waist and the rail bottom or is coated at two sides of the rail waist (2) and the rail bottom (1), and a distance is formed between the upmost top end face of the insulation coating layer (5) and the rail top (4). Through the method, stray current is completely avoided, damage to tracks and public facility pipelines and buildings around the tracks caused by an unfavorable factor of electrochemical corrosion can be avoided.
