The invention discloses an automatic garbage sorting and recycling device for a building. The automatic garbage sorting and recycling device comprises a vertical transmission mechanism, a horizontal transmission mechanism and a plurality of garbage cans, wherein one side of each garbage can is provided with an electronic tag; a plurality of suspending assemblies for suspending the garbage cans are arranged on the vertical transmission mechanism; each suspending assembly is provided with a signal receiver which is used for inducting a signal emitted by the electronic tag and enabling the vertical transmission mechanism to stop operation. According to the automatic garbage sorting and recycling device, after the signal receiver receives the signal emitted by the electronic tags on the garage cans, the vertical transmission mechanism is controlled to stop operation; the horizontal transmission mechanism for floor starts operation, the garage cans are pushed to the suspending assemblies on the vertical transmission mechanism, and then, the horizontal transmission mechanism is returned to an original state and the vertical transmission mechanism continuously operates for conveying the garbage cans to downstairs for being recycled, so that the garbage cans can be automatically transmitted to downstairs for being recycled, thereby saving time and labor, and greatly facilitating living life of a user.
