The invention relates to a production and machining field of a roller brush and more particularly relates to a shorthair roller brush and a preparation method thereof. The shorthair roller brush comprises an inner pipe and bristles, and is characterized in that the inner pipe is made of modified slag; the bristles are prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 90 to 100 parts of straws, 0.5 to 1 part of zinc stearate micro-powder, 11 to 15 parts of phenolic resin, 1 to 2 parts of synthetic fatty acid resin, 0.1 to 0.8 parts of zinc oxide micro-powder, 0.9 to 1.5 parts of an anti-ageing agent and 1 to 2 parts of pigments. By taking the straws and the slag as raw materials, the problem that the straws and the slag are difficult to treat is solved, and a lot of resources are saved; straw fibers have the characteristics of large pores and good water-absorbing property; the prepared bristles are fine and have good adsorption property, so that the frequency of repairing paint is reduced.
