The invention discloses a chain trencher. The chain trencher comprises a speed changing box; a box body of the speed changing box is rotationally connected with a support; one end, close to the speed changing box, of the support is rotationally provided with a driving wheel; one end, far from the speed changing box, of the support is rotationally provided with a driven wheel; the driving wheel is connected with the driven wheel through a transmission chain; trenching cutters are fixedly arranged on two adjacent chain knots of the transmission chain; a sleeve is fixedly arranged in the middle of the support; an inner hole of the sleeve is in sliding joint with an adjusting rod; one end, far from the sleeve, of the adjusting rod is rotationally provided with a roller; the roller is in contact connection with the transmission chain; a spring is arranged in the sleeve; one end of the spring is in contact connection with the adjusting rod; the position of the other end of the spring is fixed. During trenching by the chain trencher, the tightness of the transmission chain can be automatically adjusted, the working efficiency of the chain trencher is improved, and the service life of the chain trencher is prolonged.
