The invention belongs to the technical field of building construction, particularly relates to a fastener for channel steel positioning connection and a using method, and aims to provide a channel steel connecting piece which does not affect the performance of channel steel and is convenient and practical. The fastener comprises a pair of positioning pieces which are fixedly connected through a through-length screw rod and a matched nut, wherein each positioning piece comprises a rectangular frame which is defined by a C-shaped positioning piece outer frame and an L-shaped baffle; each C-shaped positioning piece outer frame comprises a web plate and an end plate; a bolt hole is formed in each end plate; each L-shaped baffle comprises a connecting end and a free end; the end plate on one side of each C-shaped positioning piece outer frame is fixedly connected with the connecting end of the corresponding L-shaped baffle through the through-length screw rod and a middle nut; and a gap isreserved between the free end of each L-shaped baffle and the other end plate of the corresponding C-shaped positioning piece outer frame. The fastener is connected with the channel steel without modes of punching, welding and the like, and the circumstance that the strength of the channel steel is affected due to damage to the structure of the channel steel is avoided fundamentally.
