The invention provides a friction plate and a manufacturing method thereof. The friction plate is of an arc-shaped sheet structure; a chamfer is respectively arranged at two ends of the outer arc surface of the friction plate; and the friction plate comprises the following components: 13%-15% of resin, 16%-20% of a mixed material, 5%-8% of reinforcing fibers, 15%-20% of friction powder, 8%-12% ofcellulose fibers, 5%-8% of graphite, 5%-8% of barium sulfate, 10%-15% of steel chisel powder and 3%-5% of nitrile rubber powder. According to the invention, a proper amount of the cellulose fibers arearranged in the friction plate, and the cellulose fibers have strong bond stress and can improve tensile stress among friction materials, so friction material particles of the friction plate are morecompact and cannot loosen in the braking process, and the braking effect is improved; and the chamfers are arranged at two ends of the outer arc surface of the friction plate, so friction of sharp end parts of the friction plate in the braking process is avoided, and the braking noise is reduced.
