The invention relates to the field of shared devices, in particularly to a fault identification device for a shared device and a smart lock. The fault identification device comprises a box body, a sliding block, a shielding piece and a magnetic force generating device. In a non-fault state, the sliding block and the magnetic force generating device are located on the two sides of a containing space, and a device identification code is located between the sliding block and the magnetic force generating device. In a fault state, the magnetic force generating device is used for being electrifiedand attracting the sliding block, so that the shielding piece covers the device identification code. By means of the fault identification device, when the device breaks down, the magnetic force generating device is electrified, so that the magnetic force generating device has magnetism and attracts the sliding block, the sliding block moves to one side of the magnetic force generating device and drives the shielding piece to expand, then the device identification code is shielded, and a user can directly observe that the device identification code is shielded from a display window and quicklyidentify the faulty device. The smart lock uses the fault identification device.
