The invention discloses a retarding composite water reducing agent for a silica fume-free refractory self-flowing castable, wherein the retarding composite water reducing agent is prepared from a melamine water reducing agent, a naphthalene water reducing agent, a polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent and citric acid as raw materials, wherein the mass ratio of the melamine water reducing agentto the naphthalene water reducing agent to the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent to citric acid is 3:3:(2-3):(0.2-1). Compared with a single melamine water reducing agent or naphthalene water reducing agent or polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, the composite water reducing agent has the advantages that the water reducing efficiency is obviously improved; meanwhile, with introductionof anhydrous citric acid, the dispersing performance of the composite water reducing agent is improved, the water reducing agent has good dispersity, and moreover, the system is more stable and the retarder performance is better; and the anhydrous citric acid has a water reducing effect, and through compounding of the anhydrous citric acid, the melamine water reducing agent, the naphthalene waterreducing agent and the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, the double requirements of high water reducing efficiency and high-temperature (30 DEG C-50 DEG C) retarding of the silica fume-free refractory self-flowing castable are met.
