The invention belongs to the field of aerogel, in particular discloses a preparation method of an improved silicon dioxide aerogel and the silicon dioxide aerogel. The preparation method comprises steps: adding 3-aminopropyltrihydroxysilane to participate in a condensation reaction after a hydrolysis step of the preparation step of the silicon dioxide aerogel; aging, replacing and modifying with amodifier to obtain an amino modified silicon dioxide wet gel; soaking the wet gel into a polyacyl chloride compound; reacting amino and acyl chloride quickly to form a thin-layer cross-linked polyamide compound on the surface of the silicon dioxide wet gel; drying to obtain a thin-layer cross-linked polyamide compound coated silicon dioxide aerogel; removing the external layer polyamide compoundto obtain the relatively pure silicon dioxide aerogel. According to the invention, a new thought is provided for preparing the silicon dioxide aerogel with high purity.
