The content of ZrO2 in the zircon sand is larger than or equal to 62wt%, at least 80wt% of grain size is 0.2 to 1 mm, the content of Cr2O3 in the chromite sand is larger than or equal to 46wt%, at least 85wt% of grain size is 0.25 to 0.9 mm, the content of SiO2 in the quartz sand is larger than or equal to 96wt% at least 85wt% of grain size is 0.4 to 0.85 mm, the ladle filler sand is uniform and stable in component, dense in filling, good in liquidity, uniform and moderate in sinter layer, and good in cast-on effect, the automatic cast-on rate is larger than or equal to 99.5%, and a preparing method comprises the step of baking a raw material mixed with water. The method is simple, easy to operate, suitable for industrial production, and suitable for preparing high-quality steel balls.
