The invention discloses an electric tail door automatic control method and system. The method comprises the steps that a user terminal sends a remote tail door opening or closing control command to aT-BOX of a vehicle; after receiving the control instruction, the T-BOX of the vehicle sends the control instruction to a vehicle body controller on a CAN; the vehicle body controller awakens an LIN and sends an enable signal to a reversing radar so as to detect whether an obstacle exists in a preset range behind the vehicle or not through the reversing radar; and if so, the vehicle body controllersends a tail door opening or closing control command to an electric tail door control module so that the electric tail door control module can execute the corresponding electric tail door opening orclosing action. Remote control and local reversing radar detection are combined, the safety of the electric tail door during opening or closing is improved, and a problem of personnel injury or vehicle injury caused by remote opening or closing of the tail door can be solved.
