The invention discloses a leakage alarm and detection system and method for a pneumatic system. The system comprises a main gas supply switching branch and a gas coloring device, and the interior of the gas coloring device is provided with a plurality of gas dyeing mediums with set colors; the pressure alarm switch is connected with the pneumatic system and used for sending an alarm signal when the pressure of the pneumatic system is lower than a preset value; the light intensity sensor is used for detecting and outputting a current ambient light intensity signal; and the electric control system is in circuit connection with the main gas supply switching branch, the gas coloring device, the pressure alarm switch and the light intensity sensor respectively, and is used for closing the maingas supply switching branch when receiving the alarm signal and controlling the gas coloring device to dye the gas into a corresponding color according to a current ambient light intensity signal output by the light intensity sensor. Detection personnel can quickly and accurately identify leakage and judge leakage points, and the device is concise, efficient, time-saving, labor-saving, high in efficiency, simple in structure, high in automation degree, safe and reliable.
