The U-shaped water retaining cofferdam structure comprises a U-shaped main body and a bottom sealing concrete, the U-shaped main body comprises a first water retaining plate and two second water retaining plates, two ends of the first water retaining plate are respectively in fixed sealing connection with one end of each of the two second water retaining plates, the other end of each of the second water retaining plates is used for being in fixed sealing connection with a lower tower column of a bridge main tower through a water stopping box so as to surround an upstream face of the lower tower column of the bridge main tower, and bottom ends of the first water retaining plate and the two second water retaining plates push against and support a bearing platform of the bridge main tower; and the bottom sealing concrete isused for being arranged at the bottom of the U-shaped main body and sealing a pushing against and supporting part between the bridge main tower and the first water retaining plate and the two second water retaining plates so as to form the water retaining cofferdam structure. The U-shaped water retaining cofferdam structure provided by the invention has the characteristics of low construction cost, short construction period, relatively less interference to a channel and relatively lower impact on channel safety.
