Silicon modified vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer
The present invention relates to silicon-modified vinyl acetate ethylene copolymers, and to emulsions, articles of manufacture, and cement waterproofing compositions based on the copolymers. The silicon modified vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer includes: (i) 60 wt% to 95 wt% of vinyl acetate units; (ii) 0.1 wt% to 35 wt% of ethylene units; and (iii) 0.1 wt% to 5 wt% of units derived from the silicon compound of formula (I); wherein R1 is an alkenyl group with an unsaturated terminal; and R2, R3, and R4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, a heteroalkyl group, a substituted heteroalkyl group, a cyclic group, a substituted cyclic group, a heterocyclic group, a substituted heterocyclic group, an aryl group, a substituted aryl group, a heteroaryl group, and a substituted heteroaryl group; the silicon content of the vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer bonded to the silicon modification is 0.06 wt% to 0.29 wt%.
