The invention discloses a preparation method comprising the steps: step 1, preparing graphene oxide; step 2, preparing a graphene oxide/diatomite composite material; and step 3, preparing the fireproof thermal insulation board: firstly, taking polystyrene particles, graphene oxide/diatomite, a binder, clay powder, a flame retardant, aluminate cement and water in parts by weight and mixing to obtain a mixture; then adding the mixture into a shaping mold, placing the shaping mold in a press machine, making the mixture be in a compact state through exhausting, pressing and pressure maintaining, and demolding to obtain a blank; and maintaining the obtained blank, and drying until the moisture content of the blank is less than 1% to obtain the fireproof thermal insulation board. The thermal insulation board has the advantages of accessible raw materials and simple preparation technique, and is convenient to operate; by adopting a mode of compounding an organic material and an inorganic material, the preparedthermal insulation board is high in compressive strength and tensile strength, good in thermal insulation performance, low in volume water absorption rate, non-combustible in fireproof grade and suitable for industrial large-scale production.
