The invention relates to the field of bridges, and provides a telescopic bridge cable detection device, which comprises a telescopic rod comprising an upper rod body and a lower rod body; a pluralityof cameras; two clamping mechanisms which are arranged at the upper end of the upper rod body and the lower end of the lower rod body respectively, each clamping mechanism comprising four clamping assemblies, and each clamping assembly comprising a rotating shaft, an arc-shaped plate, a screw rod and a guide rod; two driving mechanisms of which each comprises four bevel gears and a motor, the fourbevel gears being installed on the rotating shafts of the four clamping assemblies respectively, every two adjacent bevel gears being meshed with each other, and the motor being used for driving oneof the rotating shafts to rotate; at least one electric push rod of which a first end is connected with the outer wall of the upper rod body and a second end is connected with the outer wall of the lower rod body; and a controller, a wireless communication module and a power supply. The telescopic bridge cable detection device provided by the invention has the advantage that the slipping phenomenon between the telescopic bridge cable detection device and a cable is not easy to occur.
