The present invention relates to a porous ceramic, particularly to a magnesium aluminate spinel porous ceramic, which is prepared from the following raw materials by mass: 100 parts of a main materialcomprising active alumina powder and light magnesium carbonate powder with the mass ratio of the active alumina powder to the light magnesium carbonate powder being 40-60: 60-40, 0.1 to 0.6 part of adispersant, 0.5 to 2 parts of an adhesive, and 100-200 parts of water. The magnesium aluminate spinel porous ceramic provided by the invention has an open through structure and high porosity.
